About Us

All over the world from Asia to Africa, America to Australia, the concept of microfinance has proven to be an economic tool that can be leveraged upon to bring about immediate and enduring solution to the issue of poverty and exclusion in financial services. In Nigeria, the apex bank whose duty and responsibility it is to regulate the financial transactions in the country considered microfinance and set out a policy to bring about the application of microfinance banks/institutions and engender financial inclusion of the citizens at the bottom of the pyramid.

Since the launch of the microfinance policy, the economic and financial landscape of Nigeria has grown in astronomic dimension. A simple fact that supports this assertion is the statistics that put the number of registered and existing microfinance banks at 1,000 and microfinance institutions (made up of financial NGO’s, Cooperatives, etc…) at over 500.

Considering the makeup of these institutions and their operational capabilities; various challenges tend to inhibit their ability to reach out to the target audience as well as network the international community for possible opportunities that can provide them with further capabilities.

To this end, we established microfinance.ng as the gateway of everything about microfinance in Nigeria. Specially, we run a functional e-Directory here on our website – containing all categories of Microfinance organisations and institutions in Nigeria.

Importantly, we are the voice of the microfinance community in Nigeria; providing microfinance banks/institutions with the opportunity to network of online presence, and the benefit of industry networking.

Microfinance.ng, as a resource centre for microfinance sub-sector in Nigeria, is built to serve the operators of microfinance in Nigeria while providing necessary information for investors and clientele alike real-time. What do we do? In few years to come, Microfinance.ng will be a platform for research, review and relevance for measuring the impact of a microfinance banks/institution.
